Scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue'
Height x Spread: 30cm x 30cm
Masses of lavender-blue flowers dance on slender stems above low mounds of grey-green finely cut, oval foliage. This staple cottage garden plant is very popular due to the haze of delicate, soft blue flowers that are produced from mid-summer to early autumn.
Its informal style looks wonderful planted in drifts through a flower meadow or in loose groups within a gravel garden. If space is limited, it makes a good-value long-flowering container plant. However you use it, the bees, butterflies and hoverflies will seek it out. A great cut flower, regular deadheading will prolong its flowering period. Unfussy, it thrives in a fairly rich, free draining, non-acidic soil in full sun.
