Scabiosa columbaria ssp. ochroleuca
Height x Spread: 60cm x 60cm
Crowds of small, pale lemon pincushion flowers carried on wiry stems, jostle for position above feathery grey green foliage. This very dainty scabious will flower its socks off all summer just keep deadheading it.
It is very useful for adding a layer of small but bright pinpoints of colour into a scheme, creating a fashionable layered garden or lightening up an area of darker and denser planting. Drought resistant and very hardy, it is ideal for a gravel garden but will seed itself around. It looks stunning combined with blues such as Salvia atriplicifolia 'Little Spire' and Aster, violet-purple Verbena and Allium, and dark red or purple Penstemon. Easy to grow, it prefers a spot in full sun in an alkaline to neutral, free draining soil.
Available for Mail Order from April - August
