Sidalcea 'Elsie Heugh'
Height x Spread: 100cm x 60cm
Spikes, of delicate shell-pink flowers with frilly edged petals, are held high on sturdy, branching stems above mid green, scalloped basal foliage. This classic cottage garden plant is a great all round performer and very easy to grow. It flowers profusely during summer; as the flower stems fade cut them right down to the ground to encourage a second flush.
It provides valuable vertical structure to the middle of a herbaceous border, without overpowering its neighbours. Attractive to pollinators, we recommend combining it with dusky purples, soft blues and deeper pinks to highlight its delicacy. It thrives in a light, fairly fertile, free draining soil with some moisture retention, preferably in full sun, but can cope with light shade.
