Strobilanthes attenuata 'Blue and White'
Height x Spread: 60cm x 60cm
This is a medium sized mound forming semi-evergreen perennial that produces intense blue and white tubular flowers from mid summer to autumn. It has erect branching stems clothed with hirsute, dark green leaves. Happy in sun to part shade and is particularly happy when shaded from the harshest heat of the day.
Any reasonable soil is fine as long as it drains well. Place it in a sheltered spot away from the harshest winter extremes and protect the crown with a mulch of dry leaves over winter. This plant has no preferences when it comes to soil pH. Cut back spent stems after flowering.
A pollinator friendly addition to sheltered gardens, this plant hails from tropical Asia, Northern India and Pakistan . Ideal for courtyard and informal gardens, underplanting trees and woodland edge settings as well as beds and borders.
