Strobilanthes rankanensis
Height x Spread: 80cm x 60cm
Curved trumpet-like deep blue flowers with a network of grey veins, are held on upright, branching, mid green stems above shrubby, glossy, oval leaves. Hailing from China, this species is hardier than other Strobilanthes. It deserves to be more widely known and grown for its haze of beautiful, deep blue flowers from mid summer into autumn.
Ideal for underplanting shrubs in a border, or planted in drifts in a more naturalistic scheme, it also makes very attractive ground cover, keeping the weeds at bay. Tolerant of both full sun and partial shade, it is extremely unfussy about the soil that it is grown in, anything but very free draining soil will do.
Available for Mail Order from April - August
