Symphyotrichum novi-belgii 'Purple Dome'
Height x Spread: 50cm x 50cm
Masses of dark violet-purple daisies with golden yellow centres and mid green narrow leaves, smother this more compact, dome-shaped form of 'Michaelmas Daisy'. 'Purple Dome' delivers intense, jewel-like, long-lasting colour in a herbaceous or mixed border from late summer into autumn.
It looks particularly good combined with golden yellows such as Rudbeckia, deep oranges, blues and pinks. Bred to have foliage more resistant to mildew, its nectar rich flowers are very attractive to butterflies. An excellent cut flower, deadheading faded flowers will prolong flowering. Low maintenance, it prefers a rich, moist soil that has been worked well, in full sun.
