Hylotelephium telephium (Atropurpureum Group) 'Xenox' PBR
Height x Spread: 50cms x 50cms
This drought tolerant, sun loving perennial is ideal for courtyard, gravel and wildlife gardens, needing well drained alkaline to neutral soil.
It has succulent purple and green foliage with burgundy flowers emerging from dark red buds from late summer. Loved by bees and butterflies, the flowers will produce large seed heads which are sustained into the Winter and can provide a food source for birds at this time.
The flower heads on this plant can become so heavy that the plant can collapse outwards under the weight. To avoid this and encourage the plant to flower even more, cut the new stems down by half at the end of May. This will produce a compact and self-supporting plant with oodles of flowers.
