This clump forming herbaceous perennial is native to Japanese mountains and upland slopes. Over a base of feathery foliage, it has erect, branching stems topped with dense umbels of white star shaped flowers which appear in late summer and autumn.
It is stoloniferous and makes clumps up to 100cm across. Loved by bees and other pollinators this, rarely seen in cultivation, plant thrives in any moist but well drained soil in either sun or part shade .
Large clumps can be divided in Spring.
Fully hardy in the U.K, this particular Patrinia is ideal for prairie style plantings as well as informal, cottage and wildlife gardens.
