Cephalaria alpina

Commonly known as the Alpine Scabious, this perennial has dark green foliage with leaflets on either side of the naked stems. Soft yellow Scabious like flowers appear during the summer, followed by attractive globe shaped seed heads. .
It is best planted in sunny situations which have a well-drained soil and is ideal for the middle or back of your borders and beds.
This plant is fantastic for attracting pollinators, particularly butterflies.
Ideal for use in wildflower, prairie and cottage garden schemes, this upright, free flowering perennial is short lived but can self seed happily making it particularly useful for more naturalistic schemes.
Despite its "alpina" epithet, this plant is not suitable for anything but the very largest rockeries, it just refers to the fact it comes from a high altitude.
