Chrysanthemum 'Dixter Orange'
Height x spread: 75cm x 50cm
A woody based perennial with dark green leaves with a grey green underside. The deep orange double flowers, which appear from late Summer, are arranged in sprays which make it ideal for use in flower arranging. Care should be taken when cutting as the sap from his plant can be a skin irritant.
Best in a bright spot on moist but well drained soil, this herbaceous perennial has lobed grey green leaves but these are mostly obscured by the sheer number of flowers in autumn. Loved by bees this tall specimen should be protected from strong winds to keep it from needing to be staked.
When flowering finishes cut the plant back to approx. 10cm This will ensure a strong bushy plant for the following year and will protect any new shoots emerging from the base.
Give this plant an organic mulch in autumn to protect new growth from being damaged by frost. It is semi-hardy in the UK so can be lifted in very exposed areas.
Potential skin allergen. Wear gloves when handling
