'Dark Knight' is a fantastic shrub for injecting late summer colour into a border, producing stunningly deep blue nectar rich flowers that contrast deliciously with greyish-green aromatic foliage.  Reliable and floriferous, bees and butterflies just love this cottage garden stalwart. 

Being compact, a position close to the front of a border or pride of place in a sunny container would suit it best.  Interesting shape and colour combinations include Veronicastrum virginicum 'Fascination', Scabiosa incisa 'Kudo' and Potentilla nepalensis 'Ron McBeath'.  Hardy and tough, it prefers a very sunny site in fertile, well-drained soil.  Wait until the spring frosts have finished to prune it back hard to an enduring framework and then mulch it to feed and suppress weeds.
