Salvia rosmarinus Prostrata Group (Ro)
Height x Spread: 40cm x 60cm
Commonly known as Prostrate Rosemary, this perennial is a compact evergreen shrub. Linear, needle-like, aromatic foliage sits beneath small, pale blue flowers during spring. Native to the Mediterranean, this Salvia has a mat-forming habit. To remove spent flower heads simply ruffle the plant and they will drop off.
This plant needs a sheltered position in full sun with a well-drained soil. It is ideal for coastal locations and sunny wall-side borders which may be prone to drought. An obvious choice for a herb garden; it would also be suitable for a sensory or perfume garden. This low maintenance plant can be used as an effective form of ground cover.
