Actaea 'Queen of Sheba'
Height x Spread: 150cm x 80cm
Statuesque and elegant, 'Queen of Sheba' stands our from other bugbane cultivars for its unusual autumn display of flowers. Its sweet scented white bottlebrush-like blooms are not only slightly smaller and finer than others on the market but also gently arch like fingers away from the dark stems that rise from the lush deeply divided purple almost black foliage.
Frame its unusual silhouette in a lightly shaded border or woodland garden, with an underplanting of ferns, Hosta and Epimedium to highlight the striking contrast in foliage whilst the flowers shine out of the gloom. To get the best from it, plant it in a moist, free draining soil that has been enriched with organic matter in part shade, where the pollinators will seek out its nectar rich flowers.
This plant is PBR protected.
