Aster amellus 'Dark Pink'
Height x Spread: 50cm x 30cm
Ever so pretty and dainty, from late August into October 'Dark Pink' puts on a fantastic display of single deep pink daisy flowers, each with fine narrow petals circling a golden yellow boss centre. Similar in scale and form to 'Rosa Erfullung', its darker hue combines brilliantly with other jewel colours found in the autumn palette such as golden yellows, pale pinks and purples.
Tough and hardy, this Michaelmas daisy has been bred for improved resistance to mildew but is also very free flowering, attracting bees and other pollinators in their droves, making it a good choice for a wildlife garden or meadow. Perfect for the front to middle of a sunny border, plant it with fine ornamental grasses and Hesperantha for an interesting combination of colour and texture. It thrives in a fertile, good soil which is moist but free draining.
