Baptisia 'Vanilla Cream' (Decadence Series)
Height x Spread: 80cm x 60cm
Ever so pretty and unashamedly romantic, 'Vanilla Cream' has rich cream pea-like flowers that open from smoky purple buds from the base of the flower spike upwards, all neatly set off by clumps of fresh green clover-like leaves.
Baptisia have rightly gained in popularity with gardeners, with breeders working hard to produce a diverse colour range from rich blue to yellows, browns, purples and pinks. A recent introduction, 'Vanilla Cream' is a gentle refreshing colour that lifts darker tones of purple, pinks and blues in the garden and really sings out against greens and zesty limes. Free flowering from late spring into midsummer, it is a perfect choice for an informal cottage garden, whilst its elegant smart looks will hold its own in any contemporary or courtyard planting scheme, attracting bees and other pollinators in their droves. It thrives in full sun in a free draining, preferably sandy soil, where it can develop deep tap roots.
