Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald 'n' Gold'
Height x Spread: 100cm x 150cm
A long standing cultivar of Spindle , 'Emerald and Gold' forms a dense bush of boldly splashed leaves, creamy yellow on glossy mid green. Naturally informal in habit, it can be kept compact and neat by pruning or trimming in early spring once the frosts have finished. But if you hold back on the snips small pale pink flowers will appear in early summer.
Being evergreen and tolerant of all lighting conditions from full sun through to full shade, it is often used in gardens for year round interest and will add oomph to a border of purples, reds and greens. Alternatively harness its natural inclination to climb by training it against a wall - it looks particularly striking against dark greys and whites. Hardy, easy to grow and look after, it prefers a free draining soil but needs more moisture to thrive in full sun.
