Paeonia 'First Arrival'
Height x Spread: 75cm x90cm
To create drama and impact in your early summer garden, consider planting an Intersectional 'Itoh' Paeony for a stunning combination of flower and foliage. 'First Arrival is rather aptly named. One of the earliest to bloom, it produces large semi-double slightly ruffled pink flowers each suffused deeper pink at their centre surrounding a boss of golden yellow stamens, the petals fading to soft pink as they mature.
Its foliage is a strong support act, finely cut and glossy, it emerges from red buds in spring creating a foil for other plants, then clumps up to form attractive green bushes that remain upright after flowering only to turn deep red in autumn. This is a plant to add long term interest and value to a garden. To get the best performance, plant it in fertile, moist but well drained soil in the sun.
Paeony is harmful if eaten
