With its tousled thistle-like flowers of deepest purple almost black, 'Jordy' brings drama and a touch of the exotic to the spring garden, the jewel-like hue intensified further by its lush grey-green foliage.

Reliable and long flowering from early May into late June, it is perfect for adding depth and contrast to a floral display, combining well with both cool colours such as pale pinks, blues and whites to more intense oranges, rusty reds, pinks and limes.  'Jordy' planted with Euphorbia characias subsp wulfenii looks particularly striking.  Its informal but showy looks enhance so many planting styles from cottage to coastal, even prairie whilst its nectar-rich flowers are a veritable bee magnet. Happy in both sun or part shade, it performs best in a moist but free draining soil.
