Disporopsis aspersa

This is a rhizomatous, clump forming, evergreen perennial, with arching stems, glossy, lanceolate leaves and scented, nodding, white bell-shaped flowers with speckles in summer. The flowers are followed by black berries.
Best planted in fertile, humus rich, neutral to acid soil in part shade. This plant hails from China and is hardy down to -15degrees Celcius.
Ideally suited to sheltered cottage, informal and woodland edge plantings as well as beds and borders. It is useful as underplanting for roses and taller shrubs as well as ground cover.
An easy to grow plant that is usually pest and disease free.
