Create Your Very Own Traditional, Festive Table Decoration.

Ingredients

  • Suitable container - seed tray lined with tin foil, plastic takeaway tray or similar.
  • Oasis (suitable for wetting)
  • HELLEBORUS niger 'Winterfall' is ideal for the centre piece of your table decoration OR a Candle or alternatively a Candle Jar.
  • Foraged foliage and berries - depending upon what you have in your garden, suggestions include fir, holly, ivy, rosehips, old man’s beard, cornus (dogwood), pittosporum, fir cones and rosemary for fragrance.
  • Oranges - if you prefer not buy these how about drying your own...
  • A few Christmas decorations for added festive sparkle - we used Rosy's mothers Christmas Bells on our table decoration.

For foraging ideas, Rosy has put together a short video available on You Tube.  (You'll find our YouTube link on our website)

Method

Cut the oasis to size and then soak in water.

Once the Oasis is saturated, place it in the container and secure with floral tape or something similar (we used max tapener tape) your Oasis is now ready to support the foliage.

This is a good time to fit the Hellebore OR Candle into place - cut a whole in the Oasis if you wish to secure it.

Select pieces of main foliage, such as fir, (don't forget that off-cuts from your Christmas tree are ideal) and push securely into the oasis. Start at the base and work your way up until the oasis is fully hidden.

At this stage you can add further berries or decorations of your choice - we used 3's, 5's or 7's of each our choice of decoration.

Sit back, relax and enjoy
