Sanguisorba obtusa
Height x Spread: 80cm x 60cm
Gently arching, fluffy, deep lilac-pink flower spikes dance on slender, elegant stems above filigree blue-green foliage. Native to alpine Japanese meadows, it is tough, hardy and low maintenance.
Light and ethereal, this Japanese Burnet looks wonderful planted in large drifts through a meadow, or close to a stream with its silhouette reflected in the water. It is also useful for creating a see-through screen of planting, adding mystery and veiling views. Divide very large clumps in either spring or autumn. It performs best in a moist, fairly rich soil with some drainage, in full sun or partial shade.
