Armeria caespitosa 'Bevan's Variety'
Height x Spread: 5cm x 15cm
Ever so pretty and delicate, 'Bevan's Variety' is an ankle-high gem. For most of the year this thrift appears fairly unassuming, forming a compact but gently spreading carpet of needle-like evergreen foliage. But come the spring lots of soft pink flowers appear, jostling with each other to catch the sun.
Hardy and versatile, its preference for a free draining soil with few nutrients and full sun make it an attractive candidate for a gravel or rock garden, but it works well in a planter too combined with short ornamental grasses such as Stipa tenuissima and sun loving Geranium. Bees and other pollinators love its nectar-rich flowers.
