Digitalis purpurea
Height x Spread: 120cm x 45cm
Widely known as the Common Foxglove, this much loved plant bears lofty spires of bright purple pink thimble-like flowers that hang downwards to one side above a basal rosette.
Practically an absolute must for any cottage garden border, adding interest and height as it grows through other plants, it also looks wonderful planted in swathes through a dappled woodland garden. A true bee magnet, this biennial plant will self-seed freely. It thrives in dappled shade in a humus-rich soil but can tolerate full sun if the soil is not too dry.
All parts are poisonous.
