Galanthus 'Atkinsii'
Content : Bundles of 3 in the green bulbs, ideal for naturalising
Height x Spread: 20cm x 20cm
Gently drooping flowers with long, white outer petals surrounding an inner skirt of smaller white segments, tipped with green heart-like markings, are carried over narrow, linear blue green leaves. This delicate snowdrop is grown not only for its large flowers, but also its vigour.
It will increase quickly from small clumps, so you may need to divide it more often than other snowdrops, perhaps every other year. It also flowers early, brightening up the gloom. An obvious choice for naturalising in grass or in woodlands, it is also looks great planted beneath winter flowers shrubs and heathers or contrasted with leathery leaved hellebores. It grows best in any humus rich soil that is free draining but moisture retentive, in partial shade.
Harmful if eaten.
