Galanthus nivalis
Content : Bundles of 10 in the green plants, ideal for naturalising
Height x Spread: 10cm x 20cm
Widely known as the 'Common Snowdrop', this ankle-high perennial bears a single, gently bowing flower heads with outer white spoon-shaped petals and inner green-tipped segments from each stem above its grey-green foliage. Tough and extremely hardy, this delicate plant appears when winter starts to wane.
Perfect for naturalising in drifts in a woodland setting or an informal garden, they also look delightful planted beneath shrubs, helping to disguise their bare winter legs. They grow well in almost any humus rich soil which is free draining but moisture retentive, especially if it does not dry out in the summer. For the best performance a lightly shaded location is best, but it can cope with more sun.
Harmful if any part of the plant is eaten
Available for Mail Order from January - March
Please note - These Snowdrops are propagated and grown on-site at Hardy's , they have not been collected from the wild.
