Tall flower spikes bear deep blue blooms each with a white standard or flag, during early summer. The fragrance from this Lupin is sensational. The multiple upright flower-stems are covered with palmate, bright green leaves.
Great for flower beds and borders in either full sun or partial shade with a humus-rich moist but well-drained soil - a neutral to slightly acid pH is also key. Deadhead the flower spikes as they fade and you may well get a second flush of flower. Lupins are classic cottage garden plants.
