Penstemon 'Andenken an Friedrich Hahn' (Garnet)
Height x Spread: 60cm x 60cm
'Andenken an Friedrich Hahn' is one of the oldest hybrids of Penstemon bred in 1918, it was previously known as 'Garnet'. Throughout the summer this Penstemon produces sensational dark red trumpet-like flowers with a white striped throat. Narrow green foliage covers the stems of this bushy perennial.
A great plant for pollinators. Keep deadheading as the blooms fade to prolong flowering. Do not be tempted to cut this perennial down before the winter, leave the top growth to protect it. In spring, after the last frosts have passed, cut the plant back hard. These gorgeous flowers look fantastic in any borders or beds. Happy to grow in any fertile, moisture retentive, free-draining soil, in sun or partial shade.
H5 - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters (-15 to -10)
