Primula vulgaris (Pr/Prim)
Height x Spread: 20cm x 30cm
The Common Primrose is one of the first signs of spring. It produces its pale yellow scented flowers over a rosette of oval, deeply veined green leaves.
Sheltered positions in partial shade are best but it will tolerate some sun. One of our native wildflowers it is commonly seen carpeting woodlands and shady banks, this Primula attracts bugs and beasties making it ideal for wildlife gardens - interestingly its seeds are distributed by ants. A low maintenance plant which is happiest when planted in a humus-rich, free-draining soil.
