Salvia patens 'Guanajuato'
Height x Spread: 150cm x 50cm
This tall form of 'Gentian Sage' produces large, bright blue, two lipped flowers. Its slightly fuzzy, green stems are clothed in triangular green leaves with distinctive brown blotches. Simply stunning, this plant's intense gentian blue flowers will stop you in your tracks.
Long flowering, it is great for planting towards the back of a border, where it will sing out all summer. Half-hardy, it will enjoy the protection of a sunny wall in a courtyard or urban garden. It is sufficiently tolerant of salt air to be a good choice for coastal locations. Very attractive to bees. Do not cut back until frosts have finished. For the best results grow in a free draining soil, avoiding winter wet, in full sun.
