Actea matsumurae 'White Pearl'
Height x Spread: 110 x 75cm
Initially bred in the 1930's, 'White Pearl' remains a popular baneberry cultivar for good reason. During the summer it forms lush clumps of attractive pale green foliage from which stately white bottle brush flowers burst on willowy stems from late summer into autumn. The fragrant flowers are followed by lime-green seedheads which remain into early winter, a great way of extending the season of interest in your garden.
For an interesting foliage and flower combination for a border or 'white garden' try planting it with Hakonechloa macra 'Albo Striata' and Anemone x hybrida 'Honorine Jobert'. This reliable and hardy perennial performs best in a cool, damp, fairly nutrient-rich soil in partial shade.
