This Bearded Iris has the deepest indigo flowers with almost black falls, and dark purple standards during early summer. The blooms have a sweet scent and appear over grey/green sword-shaped foliage.
Gravel gardens are perfect for 'Deep Black', bearded iris love free-draining soil in full sun. It will happily grow in flower beds next to the house or any wall where it can bake in the reflected heat. A wonderful plant for a cottage garden or a courtyard garden it would also be ideal for a black and white themed border.
