Salvia 'Indigo Spires'
Height x Spread: 75cm x 50cm
Tall spikes of deep indigo purple flowers are held on branching purple stems clothed with mid-green foliage. This later flowering Salvia produces its blooms towards the end of summer.
It makes a wonderful container plant combined with tawny orange or white Dahlias. Alternatively plant it with Verbena bonariensis and vivid red Dahlia in a border, but remember it emerges later than other plants from the ground, so mark where its planted and do not crowd it out. Do not cut down until the frosts have finished in late spring. It prefers to be planted in full sun, in a light soil with some richness and good drainage.
