Amsonia orientalis
Height x Spread: 50cm x 60cm
Masses of small, blue, star-like flowers adorn this plant in late spring, its pale blue flowers shining out of a partially shaded spot. Further interest is delivered by the dangling, bean-like, dark seed pods that develop after the flowers have faded and the striking autumn foliage.
It is ideal for the front of the border, either in sun or part shade. The plant can be divided once it is well established, probably after 3 years. A reasonable soil is required and it will tolerate some dryness.
