Actaea simplex (Atropurpurea Group) 'Chocoholic'
Height x Spread: 150cm x 50cm
Bred in America, ‘Chocoholic’ produces tall, slender flower spikes which stand proud above its beautiful dark purple-bronze foliage. As the racemes of fragrant, pale-pink blooms open they perfume the evening air and attract pollinators of all sorts. Flowering starts in late Summer and continues into early Autumn.
Like all Actaea, ‘Chocoholic’ is a breathtakingly beautiful, architectural plant. Using a free and loose style of planting will allow this majestic perennial to show itself off from all angles. Pair it with ferns or Hosta to showcase the different leaf shapes, textures and colours. Or plant it alongside drifts of Anemone ‘Ruffled Swan’; with a flowering height of 50cm this Anemone will create a low layer of long lasting colour, it will also accentuate the height of the Actaea.
A. ‘Chocoholic’ thrives in a fertile, good soil i.e. moist but well drained in partial shade.
Harmful if ingested
